Instructions for Collecting Buccal Swab

1.  Abstain from drinking coffee or tea before tissue collection. Thoroughly rinse out the mouth twice with water.
2.  Remove the swab out of the hard-pack tube by pulling the end marked with red dot.
3.  Collect sample by rolling the Catch-All sample collection swab firmly on the inside of the cheek,  approximately 20 times on each side.
4.  Return the swab to the hard-pack tube with the swab end at the bottom.
5.  Write your first and the last name on the label (On the hardpack tube).
6.  Replace the cap and send it back to MultiGEN Laboratory Inc.

Instructions for Collecting Cervico/vaginal swab

1.  Collect cervico-vaginal swab in the usual fashion, or using Thin Prep collection system.

2.  After the collection of the sample, break of swab handle, and place the swab tip into the REMEL collection vial. 

3. Write the first and the last name on the label of the tube. 

4.  DO NOT TOUCH THE TIP OF THE COLLECTION SWAB BEFORE OR AFTER THE COLLECTING OF THE  SAMPLE.

Q & As - Sample Transportation and Result Reporting

When my office collects a sample from a patient, who do I call to come and pick it up?

Your sales representative should provide you with mailing labels and pre-paid FEDEX envelopes. To schedule a pickup with FEDEX you can call (800) 463-3339. Be sure to select "ship next day air" so that the sample is delivered by 10:30 am the next business day. The FEDEX account number is listed on the mailing label. If you need additional sample swabs,FEDEX shipping documents, or have any other questions, please call us (858) 523 1313.

Will my office be provided with UPS pre-paid envelopes?

Yes, your representative will provide you with pre-paid envelopes and mailing labels.

What is the deadline for pickup so that the samples will still ship overnight?

The deadline for pickup varies depending on your area. You can call FEDEX at (800) 463 3339.

What items should be placed in the envelope and sent to MultiGEN Diagnostics?

Please include the following items in the envelope:

  • Sample swab with patient name on tube
  • Requisition sheet
  • Copy of insurance card (front and back)
  • Consent form
  • If patient has HMO insurance, please include the prior authorization code

What if my office does not have the requisition form or the consent form?

Please visit www.multigen-diagnostics.com to print out a copy of the requisition form or consent form. If you have difficulty or any questions, please contact us at (858) 523 1313.

How soon will my office receive the results?

Results will be faxed to your office the next business day. A hard copy of the results will also be mailed to your office. You should expect a phone call from MultiGEN Diagnostics to confirm that your office has received the fax. If you do not receive the results on a submitted sample, please call (858) 523-1313.

If my office sends out a sample on Friday, will we get the results on Saturday?

When a sample is sent to MultiGEN Diagnostics on a Friday, you will receive the results by fax on Monday.

Is my office responsible for collecting a payment from the patient?

No, your office is not responsible for collecting payment. The bottom of the requisition form lists several options for payment. If the patient chooses to pay cash, we will submit a bill to the patient address listed on the requisition form. Your office may choose to charge the patient a collection fee for collecting the sample.

Will MultiGEN Diagnostics send a copy of the test results to the patient?

No, MultiGEN Diagnostics complies with HIPAA, which states that all test results must be released from the patient's physician.
